Mayor's Message – January, 2011
As newly appointed Mayor of the Township of Pequannock, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the official website of Pequannock Township, New Jersey. I am very honored and excited to take on this leadership role, as we face the challenges put before us in 2011. I welcome the opportunity to join with all the members of our council in working with our township manager, administrative and other employees, all of whom strive to make our town a fine place in which to live.
The voters have affirmed their desire for the fiscal discipline that will control property taxes and protect taxpayer dollars. This will require the moral strength to make tough decisions and the creativity to find straightforward solutions to our fiscal challenges. I am prepared to lead this effort.
Effective communication is a top priority in achieving our goals. Please take the opportunity to explore this website as a source of information about the various functions of the township government, as well as the numerous municipal services and programs available to our residents and business people. You will find a listing of all township departments and corresponding links that will allow you to obtain frequently requested information, or to contact them directly. I recommend that you visit this website often, as we do our best to update and enhance the information it contains for your use. Additionally, in the near future our township council and possibly some committee meetings will be televised or streamed on to the internet. I hope you will take advantage of these occasions to see your township’s government in action. We welcome and encourage your observations, feedback, and suggestions. An enthusiastic exchange of information and ideas will contribute to the harmony, vitality, and future success of Pequannock Township.
Your volunteer participation as an active member of our community is welcome and appreciated, whether it involves stepping-up to work with the youth of our community as a coach or mentor, serving on our volunteer fire department or rescue squad, or just remaining vigilant in watching out for a neighbor who may be in need.
As we work to remedy current important issues facing the residents of Pequannock, we will continue to look for ways to partner with our neighboring communities to reduce costs without compromising services. We remain committed to conservative fiscal ideals, to the establishment of excellent communications among township residents and their council members, and to remembering that each township councilperson reports directly to the residents of Pequannock Township.
