Flood Insurance Maps--Appeal Process
Release Date: February 21, 2018

FEMA'S 90-Day Appeal Process for Flood Insurance Rate Maps Has Begun

FEMA has opened the 90-Day Appeal Period for Preliminary Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs).  FIRMs are used to determine flood hazard designations and flood insurance rates.  They are also utilized when reviewing development plans and enforcing floodplain management regulations.

This Appeal Period will run until May 15, 2018.  FEMA will only consider revisions filed by a municipality as proven by technical data submitted with their appeal.

Pequannock Township is appealing the new FIRMs and modifications to flood hazard designations seen on these maps.

Please contact Jennifer McCulloch, Pequannock's new Municipal Flood Advocate at 973-835-5700 x164 or jmcculloch@peqtwp.org if you have any questions.
