Possession of CDS (Marijuana) & Drug Paraphernalia: July 5, 2012 @ 21:53 Hrs
Ptl. William Juliano was monitoring traffic on Route 23 northbound when he observed a 1994 Honda Accord traveling at a high rate of speed. Upon stopping the vehicle in Pompton Plains, the officer spoke with its occupants. After observing items in the passenger compartment commonly used for ingesting marijuana, the officer asked the driver for consent to search the vehicle. Upon opening the trunk; a plastic bag containing numerous smaller bags filled with marijuana were found. The driver, identified as: James M. Barber, 19 years of age from Haledon, NJ was placed under arrest. Mr. Barber was charged with Possession of CDS(Marijuana), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Speeding, and an equipment violation for having a Noisy Muffler. Mr. Barber was released pending his appearance in Municipal Court.
