CDS Arrest:  On February 5, 2017 at 1:56 a.m., Ptl. Kevin Boone observed a vehicle traveling on Route 23 North without its tail lights operating.  Ptl. Boone stopped the car and made contact with the operator.  During their conversation, the officer detected the odor of what he recognized to be marijuana, emanating from the interior of the vehicle.  After a brief investigation, several suspected marijuana cigarettes, a small bag of suspected cocaine and a glass pipe were located.  Christina V. Lenge, 23 years old from Kinnelon, was arrested, transported to headquarters and processed.  Ms. Lenge was charged with possession of CDS, possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to have working tail lamps.  She was released on her own recognizance and has a pending court appearance.
 
Marijuana Arrest:  On February 5, 2017 at 12:17 p.m., Ptl. Christopher Nelson observed the passenger of a vehicle traveling on Route 23 that was not wearing a seatbelt.  Ptl. Nelson stopped the car and made contact with its occupants.  During their conversation, the officer smelled what he recognized to be the odor of raw marijuana emanating from the interior of the vehicle.  After a brief investigation, the passenger of the car was found to be in possession of a small plastic bag containing suspected marijuana.  Steven M. Sole, Jr., 20 years old from Newark, was arrested, transported to headquarters and processed.  Mr. Sole was charged with failing to wear a seatbelt and possession of under 50 grams of marijuana.  He was released on his own recognizance and has a pending court appearance.
