DWI Arrest: On December 8, 2017 at 7:21 p.m., Ptl. Cesar Hurtado responded to the parking lot of 500 Route 23 to investigate a report of a male sleeping in a vehicle. Ptl. Hurtado located the vehicle and observed it to be running, the driver asleep and an open can of beer in the cup holder. The officer woke the driver and observed several behaviors that indicated that he was under the influence of alcohol. After performing several field sobriety tests, John Rocciola 58 years old from Pequannock, was arrested, transported to headquarters and processed. Mr. Rocciola was charged with driving while intoxicated, possession of an open alcohol container in a motor vehicle and careless driving. He was released to a third party and has a pending court appearance.
CDS Arrest: On December 10, 2017 at 10:20 p.m., Ptl. Cesar Hurtado performed a license plate check on a vehicle that was traveling on Route 23 north an learned that the registered owner was a wanted person. Ptl. Hurtado stopped the vehicle and made contact with the occupants. During their conversation, the officer observed an open container of alcohol and a small pipe. Further investigation led to the knowledge that the driver was the subject of several arrest warrants and also in the possession of two small bags of suspected cocaine. Arrahmaan A. Mohammed, 55 years old from Passaic, was arrested, transported to headquarters and processed. Mr. Mohammed was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while suspended, possession of an open alcohol container in a motor vehicle, possession of CDS in a motor vehicle and failure to keep right. He was remanded to the Morris County Correction Facility in lieu of bail.
DWI Arrest: On December 16, 2017 at 12:01 a.m., Ptl. Christopher McIvor was a behind a vehicle traveling on Route 23 North and Jackson Avenue at a red traffic signal. When the signal turned green, the vehicle took several seconds to begin to accelerate. The officer then observed the vehicle weaving back and forth on the highway. Ptl. McIvor stopped the car and made contact with the operator. During their conversation, the driver exhibited several behaviors consistent with being under the influence of alcohol. After performing several field sobriety tests, Shannon J. Flood, 41 years old from Bloomingdale, was arrested, transported to headquarters and processed. Ms. Flood was charged with driving while intoxicated, refusing to submit breath samples, careless driving, failure to maintain a lane, failure to observe a traffic control device, and improper turning. She was released to a third party and has a pending court appearance.
