DWI Arrest: On September 25, 2018 at 9:12 p.m., the Pequannock Police Department was notified by a concerned motorist of a possible intoxicated driver in the area of Jackson Avenue. The caller described the vehicle in question and gave police dispatch the registration number of the car. Ptl. James Dericks located the car in question, which was parked in the Quick Chek parking lot on Jackson Ave. He made contact with the operator, later identified as Derrick Kliebisch, 37 years old of Fairfield, N.J., who was still seated in the driver’s seat. After a brief conversation and investigation, Ptl. Dericks concluded that Mr. Kliebisch appeared to be under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance as he displayed obvious signs of impairment. Field sobriety tests were conducted and Mr. Kliebisch placed under arrest. He was transported to the Pequannock Police Department for processing, where he was subsequently charged with being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, driving while intoxicated, and careless driving. He was released to a third party and has a scheduled court date at the Pequannock Municipal Court.
DWI Arrest: On September 26, 2018 at 3:34 a.m., officers responded to Sunset Rd. on the report of a motor vehicle crash. Upon the arrival of officers, they observed a 2017 white Kia had struck a utility pole and continued west on Sunset Rd. to Roome Ave., where it came to a stop. Ptl. Kevin Boone made contact with the driver, later identified as Scott Dunaj, 31 years old of Pompton Plains. Ptl. Boone observed that Mr. Dunaj displayed multiple signs of alcohol consumption and conducted field sobriety tests. At the conclusion of the tests he was placed under arrest and transported back to Pequannock Police Headquarters for processing. Mr. Dunaj was subsequently charged with driving while intoxicated and reckless driving. He was released to a third party and has a scheduled court date at the Pequannock Municipal Court.
