Cases from 2010 & 2011 - Cleared with Arrests: February 15, 2013
On Monday, June 28, 2010, at 14:52 Hrs. the Pequannock Twsp. Police Department were called to a residence on New Read Street in Pequannock, NJ for an unattended death of a 27 year old Pequannock man. The man’s mother had called after discovering her son unresponsive in his apartment. Police arrived on scene and determined the man had passed away. Officers at the scene found evidence of possible drug involvement so the Morris County Medical Examiner took control of the deceased’s body. After toxicology examination, the Medical Examiner determined the cause of death was an apparent drug overdose. Members of the Pequannock Twsp. Detective Bureau continued an investigation into the death and a suspect was found in the case, who had delivered heroin to the victim the night prior to his death. The individual was identified as: Eric G. Delia, 23 years of age from Nutley, NJ. After approval from the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, on Tuesday, January 29, 2013, Mr. Delia was charged by Lt. Mike Fairweather with criminal charges of Possession of CDS (Heroin) and Possession of CDS within 500 Feet of a Public Park. Bail was set by Judge John A. Paparazzo at $25,000. Mr. Delia was released on bail pending arraignment.
 
On Friday, May 20, 2011, Pequannock Twsp. Police Department received a call for a report of an assault at the Quick Chek, on Jackson Ave in Pompton Plains, NJ. The 21 year old New York man reported two individuals jumped him in the parking lot, and upon being kicked in the head, he lost consciousness. The men took $100 in cash from his pocket and fled. The victim reported the two individuals were known to him and the assault was due to money he owed one of them. The victim sustained extensive injuries to his face and jaw which required surgery. The Pequannock Twsp. Detective Bureau continued the investigation, gathering evidence including surveillance video of the individuals approaching the victim. Lt. Mike Fairweather was granted arrest warrants for the two men involved. On Wednesday, February 13, 2013, charges were filed against; Arbnor Reci, 27 years of age from Haskell, NJ & Yacob B. Burtamekh, 22 years of age from Pompton Lakes, NJ. Both were charged with Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, Aggravated Assault, and Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Assault. Bail was set by Judge John A. Paparazzo at $50,000 for both. They was arrested, processed, and release on bail pending their appearance at arraignment. 
 
Both cases involved substantial evidence from phone records, GPS data, and witness interviews. The time expended was well worth it in these cases, as two sets of crimes have been cleared by arrests.
