Coffee With A Cop Announced
The Pequannock Police Department Officers will meet with citizens next week to discuss community issues, build relationships – and drink free coffee. Chief Brian Spring encourages citizens to attend Coffee With A Cop, beginning at 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. - October 4, 2017 at King’s Kid Deli, 235 Newark Pompton Turnpike, Pequannock, New Jersey. All community members are invited. The coffee is being sponsored by the King’s Kid Deli and the Pequannock Police PBA Local #172. Part of a massive effort by local police nationwide, Coffee With A Cop provides a unique opportunity for citizens to ask questions, learn more about the department’s work and build relationships in “an informal, neutral space”. The majority of contacts law enforcement has with the public happen during emergencies or emotional situations. Those aren’t always the best times for building relationships. Some citizens may also feel that officers are too busy to be approached on the street. Coffee With A Cop allows a relationship to develop one cup at a time. The national initiative is supported by the U.S. Justice Department’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services. Officers will also be conducting a Prescription Drug Takeback during the event. Drop off your old or unused prescription drugs so they can be properly destroyed…. no questions asked. Please contact Lieutenant Michael Fairweather with any questions or concerns at 973-835-1700 ext. 159 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
