CDS Arrest: On November 29, 2017 at 3:22 p.m., Ptl. Kevin Boone responded to the Stop & Shop Store on Route 23 to take custody of a man being detained by security for shoplifting. Upon his arrival, Ptl. Boone spoke with the loss prevention officer who stated that the suspect had attempted to leave the store with $484.83 of merchandise that he did not pay for. While searching the suspect, one hypodermic syringe and three Suboxone tablets were discovered on his person. Joseph S. Cupo, 27 years old from Wayne, was arrested, transported to headquarters and processed. Mr. Cupo was charged with shoplifting, possession of CDS and possession of a hypodermic syringe. He was released on his own recognizance and has a pending court appearance.
Marijuana Arrest: On November 30, 2017 at 11:09 a.m., Ptl. Daniel Caffrey observed a vehicle that was following another vehicle too closely. Ptl. Caffrey stopped the car and made contact with the driver. During their conversation, the officer smelled what he recognized to be the odor of raw marijuana emanating from the interior of the car. The driver voluntarily surrendered a pipe with suspected marijuana in it. Mark B. Hall, 64 years old from Boonton, was arrested, transported to headquarters and processed. Mr. Hall was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and careless driving. He was released on his own recognizance and has a pending court appearance.
