DWI & Possession of CDS Arrest: On September 30, 2018 at 1:55 p.m., Ptl. Christopher McIvor responded to Burt Ave. on the report of a male exposing himself.  It was reported that the male was sitting in a white Honda Civic.  Upon Ptl. McIvor’s arrival he was able to locate the vehicle in question, which was stopped in the middle of the roadway.  Ptl. McIvor activated his emergency lights and approached the car, where he made contact with the driver.  The driver was later identified as Johnny Cruz, 30 years old of Morristown, N.J.  Ptl. McIvor also observed a child playing in the back seat of the car.  Mr. Cruz was removed from his vehicle where Ptl. McIvor observed that he displayed obvious signs of impairment and asked him if he was under the influence of anything.  Mr. Cruz responded that he had used P.C.P. 30 minutes prior.  Ptl. McIvor conducted field sobriety tests on Mr. Cruz and he was subsequently placed under arrest.  Mr. Cruz was interviewed and stated that he had a controlled dangerous substance in the car.  A search of the car yielded the discovery of wrapped cigarettes that were wet and had a chemical odor believed to be suspected P.C.P.  A further search of the car yielded multiple pills believed to be suspected Dianabol Methandrostenolone, an anabolic steroid.  Mr. Cruz was transported to Pequannock Police Headquarters where he was processed and charged with driving while intoxicated, DWI with a minor in the vehicle, DWI in a school zone, careless driving, obstruction of the passage of motor vehicles, failure to use a child restraint for a child under the age of 8 years old, operation of a motor vehicle while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, delaying traffic, two (2) counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, child endangerment, possession of drug paraphernalia, and being under the influence of CDS.  He was transported to the Morris County Jail and has a scheduled court date at the Morris County Superior Court.

DWI & Possession of CDS Arrest: On September 30, 2018 at 5:46 p.m., Pequannock Police Headquarters received information from the Wayne Police Department that a possible intoxicated driver was entering the Township, driving a black Dodge pickup truck.  After patrols were unable to locate the vehicle, the police department received a second call from a concerned citizen who stated that he was following a Dodge pickup truck which was driving erratically.  The caller followed the suspect vehicle to the Boulevard where he observed it pull into a residential driveway.  Sgt. Joseph Peters arrived on scene with backup from Riverdale Police Officer, Eric Hollenstein.  As they approached the car, Ptl. Hollenstein observed the driver, later identified as Jason Carr, 32 years old of Pompton Plains, ingest a substance through with a straw through his nose which he believed to be heroin.  Ptl. Hollenstein also observed what he believed to be a crack pipe and several folds of heroin in plain view as he stood at the passenger side window.  Mr. Carr was removed from the truck and immediately placed under arrest.  A search of the truck was conducted and 82 folds of suspected heroin were recovered.  Additionally, Sgt. Peters located several items that he suspected to be drug paraphernalia.  Further investigation revealed that Mr. Carr exhibited signs of impairment and appeared to be under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance. At this time, field sobriety tests were conducted.  He was subsequently transported back to Pequannock Police Headquarters where he was processed and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, driving while intoxicated, careless driving, and possession of CDS in a motor vehicle.  He was released to a third party and has a scheduled court date at the Morris County Superior Court.
