DWI & Possession of CDS Arrest: On October 14, 2018 at 5:42 p.m., Ptl. Jay Hardy responded to 500 Route 23 North on the report of a motor vehicle accident. Upon his arrival he made contact with the operators of both vehicles and started his investigation.  During Ptl. Hardy’s conversation with the operator of a 2015 Nissan Murano, later identified as Thomas Rosen, 64 years old of North Caldwell, N.J., he observed signs of impairment.  Due to these observations Ptl. Hardy conducted field sobriety tests on Mr. Rosen.  At the conclusion of the tests Mr. Rosen was placed under arrest.  Due to the odor of marijuana emanating from Mr. Rosen’s car, a search was conducted.  During the search suspected marijuana and a pipe with suspected marijuana residue were located.  Mr. Rosen was subsequently transported back to Pequannock Police Headquarters for processing and was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving, being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of under 50 grams of marijuana.  He was released to a third party and has a scheduled court date at the Pequannock Township Municipal Court.

CDS Arrest: On October 13, 2018 at 3:20 p.m., Ptl. Kevin Boone was on patrol of Route 23 North.  At that time he observed a blue Subaru traveling north with an equipment violation and the driver not wearing his seatbelt.  Ptl. Boone conducted a traffic stop and contacted the driver and passenger.  During his conversation with the occupants, Ptl. Boone indicated that he made multiple observations that lead him to believe that the occupants may have been in possession of a controlled dangerous substance.  Ptl. Boone received consent to search the car from the driver, which yielded the discovery of several folds of suspected heroin and multiple hypodermic syringe needles.  When asked who the items belonged to, the passenger, Jessica Torres, 24 years old of Peckville PA., stated they were hers.   Ms. Torres was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to Pequannock Police Headquarters for processing.  She was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of hypodermic syringe needles.  The operator of the vehicle was charged with failure to wear a seatbelt and obstructed view.  He was released at the scene of the stop.  Ms. Torres was released with a scheduled court date at the Morris County Superior Court.
