DWI Arrest: On November 18, 2018 at 4:08 p.m., Ptl. Sean Higgins responded to the area of Route 23 North on the report of a possible intoxicated driver.  The caller informed dispatch that the suspect vehicle had pulled into the parking lot of 500 Route 23, and that he was following it.  The caller then blocked the car in after it pulled into a parking stall near HomeGoods.  Upon Ptl. Higgins’ arrival he made contact with the driver of the 2006 GMC Envoy, later identified as Stephanie Gavilanes, 32 years old of Teaneck, N.J.  Ptl. Higgins reported that he immediately detected a strong odor of an alcoholic type beverage emanating from the inside of Ms. Gavilanes’ car.  Ptl. Higgins noted that Ms. Gavilanes displayed multiple signs of impairment and conducted field sobriety tests on her. At the conclusion of the tests, she was placed under arrest and was transported to Pequannock Police Headquarters for processing.  She was subsequently charged with driving while intoxicated and reckless driving.  Ms. Gavilanes had an active warrant from the Rockaway, N.J. Municipal Court.  Bail was posted for the outstanding warrant and she was released to a third party with a scheduled court date at the Pequannock Municipal Court.

CDS Arrest: On October 18, 2018 at 11:31 a.m., Ptl. Christopher Nelson was on patrol in the area of Newark Pompton Tpke. and Jackson Ave.  At that time he observed a black Honda Pilot displaying an expired inspection sticker.  Ptl. Nelson conducted a traffic stop and contacted the driver, later identified as Kaylee Croker, 21 years old of Oakland, N.J., and the passenger, Miguel Laracuente, 21 years old of Wayne, N.J. During his conversation with the occupants, Ptl. Nelson indicated that he made multiple observations that lead him to believe that the occupants may have been in possession of a controlled dangerous substance.  Ptl. Nelson performed a search of the car which lead to the discovery of a small amount of suspected marijuana and a pill believed to be suspected Valium.  Ms. Croker and Mr. Laracuente were subsequently placed under arrest and transported to Pequannock Police Headquarters for processing.  Ms. Croker was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and failure to inspect her vehicle.  She was released with a scheduled court date at the Morris County Superior Court.  Mr. Laracuente was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and released with a scheduled court date at the Pequannock Township Municipal Court.
