DWI Arrest: On November 19, 2018 at 10:12 p.m., officers responded to the area of Route 23 South on a report that a motorist was following a possible intoxicated driver.  The motorist stated that the vehicle had just left the scene of an accident in Riverdale, N.J. after striking two cars.  Several officers from Pequannock and Riverdale Police Departments located the suspect vehicle on Route 23 at the intersection of Jackson Avenue.  Ptl. Vincent LaManno made a traffic stop and contacted the driver later identified as, Edwin Lara, 24 years old of West Milford, N.J.  Ptl. LaManno removed Mr. Lara from his vehicle at which time Ptl. Jay Hardy took over the investigation.  During a brief interview with Mr. Lara, Ptl. Hardy observed that Mr. Lara displayed multiple signs of alcohol consumption and conducted field sobriety tests on him.  At the conclusion of the tests, he was placed under arrest and was transported to police headquarters for processing.  Mr. Lara was subsequently charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while suspended, and careless driving.  Additional summonses were issued to Mr. Lara by the Riverdale Police Department for his involvement with the motor vehicle accident in which he left the scene.  He was released to a third party and has a scheduled court date at the Pequannock Municipal Court.
