DWI Arrest: On December 23, 2018 at 1:23 a.m., Ptl. James Dericks was on patrol in the area of Jackson Ave. and Route 23. At that time he observed a vehicle traveling west on Jackson Ave., make a left onto Route 23 South at a high rete of speed and he began to follow it. Ptl. Dericks observed the suspect vehicle make several moving violations including travelling at an excessive speed. Ptl. Dericks conducted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle which he was then able to identify as a 2010 Nissan 370Z. Ptl. Dericks then contacted the operator, later identified as Jason Molinares, 32 years old of Paterson, N.J. Ptl. Dericks removed Mr. Molinares from his vehicle and observed that he displayed multiple signs of alcohol consumption. At that time, Ptl. Dericks conducted field sobriety tests on Mr. Molinares and he was subsequently placed under arrest. Mr. Molinares was transported to Pequannock Police Headquarters for processing where he was charged with driving while intoxicated, speeding, reckless driving, unsafe lane change, improper display of a license plate, and unregistered motor vehicle. He was released to a third party and has a scheduled court date at the Pequannock Municipal Court.
