DWI Arrest: On May 26 2019 at 9:37 a.m., Ptl. Vincent LaManno and Ptl. Jason Chestnutt responded to 500 Route 23 North on the report of a possible intoxicated driver.  As they arrived, Ptl. Chestnutt observed a red Ford van leaving the parking lot onto Route 23 which matched the description of the suspect vehicle given to dispatch by the caller.  The red van then entered the 7-Eleven parking lot on Route 23 North.  Both officers made contact with the operator, later identified as Steven Smith, 51 years old of Wayne, N.J.  During his investigation, Ptl. LaManno observed several signs that indicated that Mr. Smith may have been under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance.  Mr. Smith was asked to perform field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest upon the conclusion of the tests.  He was transported to Pequannock Police Headquarters for processing and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Driving While Suspended, Reckless Driving, Failure to Install an Interlock Device, Driving While Suspended for Prior DWI Convictions, and Being Under the influence of CDS.  Mr. Smith, was released to a third party with a scheduled appearance at the Morris County Superior Court. 

DWI Arrest: On May 27 2019 at 9:35 p.m., Patrol Officers responded to Route 23 South near Jackson Ave. on the report of a motor vehicle accident.  Upon the arrival of Ptl. Sean Higgins and Ptl. Geoffrey Hackler they made contact with the involved parties.  After officers checked for injuries, Ptl. Sean Higgins began to interview the driver of a 2008 Honda CRV, later identified as Ruth Bolger, 58 years old of Roseland, N.J.  During his investigation, Ptl. Higgins observed that Ms. Bolger displayed multiple signs of alcohol consumption.  She was asked to perform field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest upon the conclusion of the tests.  She was transported to Chilton Medical Center for minor injuries sustained during the accident and was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Reckless Driving.   Ms. Bolger was released to a third party and has a scheduled court date at the Pequannock Municipal Court.
