Ptl. As the officer confirmed the speed and observed the vehicle swerve into another lane, the officer initiated a stop of the vehicle across from the Best Western Regency House hotel. In speaking with the driver, the officer observed a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle and the driver slurring his speech. The driver, identified as: Scott R. Walton, 52 years of age from Naples, Fl. was asked to perform sobriety tests. After failing the tests, Mr. Walton was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for further breath testing. At headquarters, Mr. Walton failed to submit samples of his breath when requested and was charged with; Driving While Intoxicated, Refusal to Submit Breath Samples, Careless Driving, and Speeding. He was released to a family member pending his appearance in Municipal Court.
