Driving While Intoxicated Arrest:  On September 19, 2014 at 7:45 p.m., Ptl. Matthew Levine was dispatched to respond to investigate a report of a motor vehicle accident in the area of Route 23 North and Jackson Avenue.  Upon speaking with the driver of one of the vehicles, Ptl. Levine detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath.  The officer also learned that the driver had struck two other vehicles while attempting to change lanes.  After performing several field sobriety tests, Robert William Zuffi, 32 years old from Butler, was placed under arrest, transported to headquarters and processed.  Mr. Zuffi was charged with careless driving and driving while intoxicated.  He was released to a third party and has a pending court appearance.

CDS Arrest:  On September 20, 2014 at 10:10 a.m., Ptl. Matthew Halligan was dispatched to investigate a witness' report of a possible drug transaction that had just taken place.  The witness identified a particular vehicle which was then located on Route 23 North and stopped by Ptl. Halligan.  The officer made contact with the three occupants of the vehicle and conducted a brief investigation at the scene.  As a result, Christine L. Mewherter, 28 years old from Butler, was arrested, transported to headquarters and processed.  Ms. Mewherter was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and operating a vehicle with an expired registration.  She was released and has a pending court appearance.

Driving While Intoxicated Arrest:  On September 21, 2014 at 10:49 p.m., Ptl. Matthew Levine observed a vehicle that was having difficulty maintain one lane on Route 23 South.  Ptl. Levine stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver.  During their conversation, the officer noticed signs of impairment and then had the operator perform several field sobriety tests.  As a result, Rita VanSanten, 64 years old from Wayne, was arrested, transported to headquarters and processed.  Ms. VanSanten was charged with failure to maintain a lane, failure to keep right, driving while intoxicated and possession of CDS.  She was released to a third party and has a pending court appearance.
