Marijuana Arrest:  On February, 5, 2016 at 8:30 p.m., this department was notified that the Wayne Police were searching for a suspect that had just burglarized the Hero’s Salute store on Route 23 South.  Ptl. James Dericks was checking the Newark Pompton Turnpike area and located an individual that matched the description given out by Wayne Police.  Ptl. Dericks stopped the individual and observed that he appeared to be concealing something under his sweatshirt.  The item was identified as a large clear glass container with suspected marijuana inside.  Another small container with suspected marijuana was located inside the individual’s sunglasses case.  Wayne Police officers responded to the scene and advised Ptl. Dericks that this individual did not appear to be the burglary suspect.  Philip C. Kemper, 24 years old from Pequannock, was arrested, transported to headquarters and processed.  Mr. Kemper was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.  He was released on his own recognizance and has a pending court appearance.

Marijuana and Warrant Arrests:  On February 6, 2016 at 9:10 a.m., Ptl. Jack Lyon was monitoring traffic on Route 23 North when he observed a vehicle speeding.  Ptl. Lyon was also able to determine that the vehicle’s registration was expired.  With these circumstances, the officer stopped the car and made contact with the occupants.  A records check of the front seat passenger revealed an active arrest warrant for child neglect for Jesus G. Rosario, 23 years old from Union City.  Mr. Rosario was arrested on that warrant, transported to headquarters and turned over to the Hudson County Sheriff’s Department.  During that arrest, Ptl. Lyon detected the odor of what he recognized to be raw marijuana emanating from the interior of the vehicle.  After a brief investigation, a small plastic bag containing suspected marijuana was turned over to police.  Aligie Delatorre, 24 years old from Fairview, was arrested, transported to headquarters and processed.  Mr. Delatorre was charged with having an expired vehicle registration and possession of under 50 grams of marijuana.  He was released on his own recognizance and has a pending court appearance.
