Village Area Sewer Project Update
The Village Area Curbing Project is currently underway, signaling that construction work in the Village Area is nearing completion. The Township of Pequannock would like to thank all residents for their continued patience and understanding throughout all of the construction work that has been completed over the past few years. In order to keep residents informed, below is a brief overview of what will occur in the in the coming weeks.
Curbs: New Belgium Block curbs are currently being installed. The installation is scheduled to be completed by August 31, 2016. Once installation is complete, the contractor will begin site restoration, including top soil, seeding, and the paving of driveways in areas that were disturbed by the construction. The new Belgium Block curbs are designed to be “mountable” whereby a vehicles tires can be pulled up onto the curb for parking purposes. This is the same design that existed previously.
Width of Roadway: Curb installation will not narrow the width of any Township roadway in the construction area of the Village. Road surfaces prior to construction were 24 feet, road surfaces will remain 24 feet after completion of the curb installation and paving.
Intersection Reconfiguration: Some intersections in the Village Area have been redesigned to create a more controlled intersection for vehicular traffic and for the safety of motorists and pedestrians.
Paving and Completion: The paving of road surfaces will begin after the curb installation is complete and the road has gone through a process called reclamation. Once the reclamation phase is complete, paving will begin. Residents can expect completion by Thanksgiving 2016.
