School Resource Officer (SRO)

Det./Cpl. David Wetmore
is a familiar face to the youth of Pequannock Township.  As a member of the Community Services Bureau of the Police Department, he serves as our School Resource Officer and is the Juvenile Detective responsible for all juvenile matters requiring police action.

Det./Cpl Wetmore's primary responsibility is acting as the Police Department's liaison to the Pequannock Township School District and its students.  The majority of his day is spent in the school district, speaking to administrators, faculty and students about a wide range of topics. Very often, through his presence and experience, problems and situations are handled informally, without any involvement with the juvenile justice system.

Det./Cpl. Wetmore has been the Police Department's primary D.A.R.E. Officer since 1995, and has had first hand contact with many of our young adults and emphasizes the serious consequences of illegal substance abuse.  He has received training in all levels of the D.A.R.E curriculum, and has been assisted in the program by Ptl. George Lane and Ptl. Robert Brown, when needed.

He is the coordinator and lead instructor in the Police Department's Junior Police Academy, and is assisted by Ptl. George Lane.

As an integral member of the Municipal Alliance Committee, Det./Cpl. Wetmore serves the Township, in providing our youth with knowledge and insight.

Det./Cpl. Wetmore may be contacted at (973) 835-1700 ext. 144 or email: dwetmore@peqtwp.org
