Driving While Intoxicated, Refusal: April 26, 2012 @ 02:49 Hrs.
Ptl. Matthew Levine was on patrol on Route 23 and observed a 1999 Chevy Pickup traveling south on Route 23 driving partially in the left and center lanes for a considerate distance. Upon stopping the vehicle, Ptl. Levine observed a strong odor of alcohol coming from the passenger compartment. After failing field sobriety testing, Ptl. Levine placed the driver, identified as: Paul D. Aulita, 35 years of age from Totowa, under arrest. At headquarters, Ptl. Levine administered breath testing and after Mr. Aulita failed to provide samples, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Refusal to Submit Breath Samples, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain a Single Lane. He was released pending his appearance in Municipal Court.
