Hit & Run Accident with DWI Arrest: On October 7, 2016 at 11:00 p.m., Ptl. Daniel Russell was dispatched to respond to Mountain Avenue, near the Boulevard, to investigate a report of a minor hit and run motor vehicle accident. Upon his arrival, Ptl. Russell spoke with a motorist who advised him that her vehicle had been struck by another car that left the scene of the accident. The motorist was able to provide the officer with a description of the vehicle as well as the license plate number. Officers were then able to locate the other vehicle and identify the driver. In speaking with this individual, the officer observed several behaviors consistent with alcohol intoxication. After performing several field sobriety tests, Gerard Paglione, 58 years old from Pompton Plains, was arrested and processed. Mr. Paglione was charged with driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident and reckless driving. He was released to a third party and has a pending court appearance.
DWI Arrest: On October 8, 2016 at 4:10 a.m., Ptl. Matthew Levine observed a vehicle exceeding the speed limit that was traveling on Route 23 North. Ptl. Levine stopped the car and made contact with the operator. During their conversation, the officer smelled what he recognized to be the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the interior of the vehicle. After a brief investigation at the scene, Omar Christopher Eldakkak, 24 years old from Kinnelon, was arrested, transported to headquarters and processed. Mr. Eldakkak was charged with speeding, careless driving, and driving while intoxicated. He was released to a third party and has a pending court appearance.
