Suicide:  On October 24, 2016 at 6:55 p.m., police were called to a residence on Greenview Drive to investigate a report of a father threatening to harm his children.  Police arrived on scene and spoke with the female caller and wife who advised that her husband stated that he was going to harm the children.  He then proceeded to remove the children from the residence, place them into his vehicle and left the area.  Officers on scene gathered all relevant information, including vehicle and cell phone data, and proceeded to contact the missing persons units from the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office and the New Jersey State Police.  As the investigation and attempt to locate was proceeding, police were able to narrow the general area of the father’s vehicle through the GPS signal from his cell phone.  The location was in the Borough of Wanaque.  The vehicle was located on the shoulder of Route 287 SB on a bridge.  Pequannock Twp. Police were assisted by officers from the Wanaque and Oakland Police Departments in searching the wooded area beneath the bridge.  The father and the two children, both boys, ages 1 and 3, were located beneath the bridge.  The father was pronounced dead at the scene.  Both children were injured but conscious and transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson. Detectives from the Pequannock Twp. and Wanaque Police Departments, Morris & Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office and N.J. State Police are continuing this investigation.
