Marijuana Arrest: On June 9, 2017 at 9:20 p.m., Ptl. Cesar Hurtado observed a vehicle fail to come to a complete stop at the intersection of Oak Avenue and Lincoln Park Road. Ptl. Hurtado stopped the car and made contact with its occupants. During their conversation, the officer smelled the odor of what he recognized to be raw marijuana. The officer also observed a metal grinder containing suspected marijuana residue in plain view near the radio of the vehicle. After a brief investigation and probable cause search of the car, a jar containing a small amount of marijuana was located. Brian Hugh Donahue, 23 years old from Tuxedo Park, NY, was arrested, transported to headquarters and processed. Mr. Donahue was charged with failure to stop, possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on his own recognizance and has a pending appearance in municipal court.
Car Burglaries: Residents are reminded to make sure their vehicles are locked, especially overnight. The police department has investigated numerous burglaries to motor vehicles of the past weekend. Items of any value have been reported stolen. All of the vehicles burglarized were unlocked and in the Brookside Avenue vicinity. Residents are urged to report any suspicious activity to police as soon as it is observed. Again, the best defense against this crime is to lock your vehicles.
