Multiple Arrests During Car Stop:  On June 29, 2017 at 2:42 p.m., Ptl. Christopher Nelson observed a vehicle traveling north on Route 23 with passengers sitting in an area with no seats.  Ptl. Nelson stopped the car and made contact with the occupants.  During their conversation, the officer smelled what he recognized to be the odors of marijuana and an alcoholic beverage emanating from the interior of the vehicle.  After a brief investigation, a small amount of suspected marijuana, several articles of drug paraphernalia and bottle of alcohol were located.  David A. Hanson, 27 years old from Valley Stream, NY, was arrested, transported to headquarters and processed.  Mr. Hanson was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and being an unlicensed driver.  Paul S. Mitton, 25 years old from Uniondale, NY, was also arrested and charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of an open container in a motor vehicle.  Apollonia M. Tyrrell, 24 years old from Rosedale, NY, was arrested for possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and riding on parts not intended for passengers.   All three individuals were released on their own recognizance and have pending court appearances.

 

Car Burglary Suspect Arrested:  As a result of an ongoing investigation into multiple burglaries of motor vehicles, Pequannock Twp. Police Detectives have arrested a suspect.  Jonathan K. Paul, 23 years old from Pompton Plains, was observed on home surveillance video attempting to enter two separate motor vehicles, causing damage to a block retaining wall and exposing his genitals.  Mr. Paul was charged with two counts of criminal attempt to commit burglary, criminal mischief and lewdness.  He was remanded to the Morris County Correctional Facility and has a pending appearance in court.
