Marijuana Arrest: On July 7, 2017 at 2:31 p.m., Ptl. Jack Lyon performed a random registration check on a vehicle that was traveling on Route 23 North. Ptl. Lyon learned that the driver’s license of the registered owner was suspended and that there was a warrant for his arrest. The officer stopped the car and made contact with the operator. During their conversation, the officer observed a glass smoking pipe and a torn glassine envelope. The individual was positively identified as the registered owner and placed under arrest for the active warrant. A subsequent search discovered several more empty glassine envelopes and two bags containing suspected marijuana. John F. Tozzi 26 years old from Hewitt, was transported to headquarters and processed. Mr. Tozzi was charged with possession of under 50 gram of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, expired inspection and driving while suspended. He posted bail on the outstanding warrant and was released on his own recognizance.
CDS Arrest: On July 9, 2017 at 6:36 p.m., Ptl. Cesar Hurtado and other officers responded to the 7-11 parking lot on Route 23 North to investigate a report of individuals apparently using drugs in a vehicle. Upon their arrival, the officers made contact with the two occupants. During their conversation, it was learned that the vehicle had been stopped by Wayne Police earlier in the day and the occupants were now waiting for a tow truck. After a brief investigation, a small amount of suspected heroin, two syringes, cotton and several glassine folds were found. Robert J. Knight, 31 years old from Oak Ridge, was arrested, transported to headquarters and processed. Mr. Knight was charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a hypodermic syringe, possession of CDS in a motor vehicle, driving without a license and having an expired vehicle inspection. He was remanded to the Morris County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail. Jamie L. Vogt, 33 years old from Oak Ridge, was also arrested. Ms. Vogt was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and released on her own recognizance. Both individuals have pending appearances in court.
