Hindering Apprehension Arrest: On Monday, October 9, 2017 at 9:28 p.m., Ptl. Cesar Hurtado observed a vehicle traveling on Route 23 North with unapproved window tint. Ptl. Hurtado stopped the car and made contact with the driver. The operator was advised of the reason for the traffic stop and stated that the vehicle was not his. He was able to produce a registration and insurance card but not a driver’s license. The driver then provided what turned out to be a false name and date of birth to the officer. His correct identity was established at the scene and several active arrest warrants were discovered. Markel K. Morris, 28 years old from Paterson, was arrested, transported to headquarters and processed. Mr. Morris was charged with hindering his own apprehension, operating a vehicle with a cracked windshield, no front license plate, driving while suspended, expired driver’s license, failure to provide a driver’s license and unapproved equipment on a vehicle. He was advised of his court appearance date and turned over to the Clifton Police Department due to an active warrant.
