DWI Arrest: On November 10, 2017 at 11:13 p.m., Ptl. Cesar Hurtado was traveling on Jacksonville Road when he observed a vehicle being operated with an expired registration. Ptl. Hurtado stopped the car and made contact with the occupants. During their conversation, Ptl. Hurtado detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the interior of the vehicle. After a brief investigation and the performance of several field sobriety tests, Edward Stefanic, Jr., 59 years old from Pompton Plains, was arrested, transported to headquarters and processed. Mr. Stefanic was charged with failure to register his vehicle, failure to wear a seatbelt, reckless driving, having a cracked windshield and driving while intoxicated. He was released to a third party and has a pending appearance in municipal court.
