Marijuana Arrest: On April 5, 2018 at 10:02 a.m., Ptl. James Dericks was traveling on Route 23 North. After conducting a random license plate check of a Dodge pickup truck which was traveling in front of him, it was learned that the registration was expired. Ptl. Dericks subsequently stopped the car and conducted an investigation. During the investigation it was learned that the passenger, later identified as Charlie Figueroa, had an active child support warrant out of Passaic County and was arrested. Once back at police headquarters, Ptl. Dericks began to detect a strong odor of marijuana coming from Mr. Figueroa’s person. A search revealed a Ziploc bag of marijuana hidden inside of his underwear. Mr. Figueroa was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and failure to turn over CDS to law enforcement. He was subsequently turned over to the Passaic County Sheriff’s Department for the warrant and given a court date at the Pequannock Municipal Court.
