On May 17, 2018 at 11:32 p.m., Ptl. Kevin Boone was monitoring traffic on Route 23 North. At that time he observed a car that was travelling northbound was failing to keep right and also observed the car to have an obstructed view from the front windshield. Ptl. Boone conducted a traffic stop and made contact the operator later identified as Aliano Roberto, 38 years old of Wayne, N.J. After a brief conversation Pt. Boone detected an odor of raw marijuana and advised Mr. Roberto of this observation. Mr. Roberto subsequently turned over a small plastic bag of suspected marijuana to Ptl. Boone. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, Ptl. Boone located a small plastic bag of suspected cocaine which was in the possession of one of the passengers, Margarita Prieto-Barragan, 24 years old of Bloomingdale N.J. Both Mr. Roberto and Ms. Prieto-Barragan were arrested and transported to the Pequannock Police Department for processing. Mr. Roberto was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, view obstruction, and failure to keep right. He was released with a scheduled appearance in the Pequannock Municipal Court. Ms. Prieto-Barragan was charged with possession of CDS and was released pending an appearance at the Morris County Superior Court.
