On May 25, 2018 at 10:11 a.m., Ptl. Jack Lyon was monitoring traffic on Route 23 South. At that time he observed a vehicle traveling southbound at a high rate of speed and conducted a traffic stop for that violation. After making contact with the driver and passengers, Ptl. Lyon detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside of the car. After a brief investigation, one of the passengers later identified as Shaneek Brown, 18 years old of Paterson, N.J., admitted that he was in possession on a small amount of marijuana. Mr. Brown turned over the suspected marijuana to Ptl. Lyon and was subsequently arrested. Mr. Brown was transported to the Pequannock Police Department for processing where he was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams. He was released with a scheduled appearance in the Pequannock Township Municipal Court.
