DWI Arrest: On June 15, 2018 at 11:58 p.m., Ptl. Cesar Hurtado was patrolling the area of Route 23 North and observed a gray Mazda in front of him that was unable to maintain its lane.  Ptl. Hurtado made a traffic stop on the vehicle in question and made contact with the operator, later identified as Jessica Appelstein, 33 years old of Mahwah, N.J.  At the conclusion of Ptl. Hurtado’s investigation and after field sobriety tests, it was determined that Ms. Appelstein was intoxicated and subsequently placed under arrest.  She was transported back to Pequannock Police Headquarters where she was processed and submitted to breath tests.  Ms. Appelstein was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving, failure to maintain a lane, and obstructed view.  She was released to a third party and has a scheduled court date at the Pequannock Municipal Court.

 

Marijuana Arrest: On June 16, 2018 at 3:02 a.m., Ptl. Kevin Ricciardi was patrolling the area of Route 23 South and observed a silver Toyota in front of him that was unable to maintain its lane.  Upon observing this violation Ptl. Ricciardi conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the operator, later identified as Priscilla Porporino, 37 years old of Bloomingdale, N.J.  Ptl. Ricciardi immediately detected the odor of marijuana and inquired about its possible presence.  Ms. Porporino admitted to smoking marijuana in the vehicle and subsequently turned over a suspected marijuana cigarette to Ptl. Ricciardi.  She was placed under arrest and transported to Pequannock Police Headquarters where she was processed and charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and failure to maintain a lane.  She was released pending an appearance in municipal court.

 

DWI Arrest: on June 16, 2018 at 3:04 a.m., Ptl. Cesar Hurtado was patrolling Route 23 North and observed a blue SUV traveling at a low rate of speed along with it being unable to maintain a lane.  Ptl. Hurtado continued to follow the vehicle in question and eventually made a traffic stop on Route 287 North.  Ptl. Hurtado contacted the operator, later identified as Lauren Ditzel, 29 years old of Rockaway, N.J.  After a brief investigation and the performance of field sobriety tests, Ms. Ditzel was placed under arrest.  She was transported to Pequannock Police Headquarters where she was processed and submitted to breath tests.  She was subsequently charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving, failure to maintain a lane, and having unclear plates.  Ms. Ditzel was released to a third party and has a scheduled court date at the Pequannock Municipal Court.
