DWI & Possession of Drug Paraphernalia Arrest: On October 18, 2018 at 6:10 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of Woodland Place and Kent Place on the report of a female who was possibly having a drug overdose in her car.  Upon officer’s arrival they made contact with the caller, an off duty police officer, who found the car and driver in the intersection.  Officers noted that the operator, later identified as Tiffany Wrobel, 36 years old of Morris Plains, N.J., was passed out at the wheel with the car in drive and her foot on the brake.  After several attempts to get Ms. Wrobel’s attention, officers were able to wake and make contact with her.  During Ptl. Leonard Anzano’s conversation with Ms. Wrobel, he observed obvious signs of impairment.  Due to these observations Ptl. Anzano conducted field sobriety tests on Ms. Wrobel.  At the conclusion of the tests she was placed under arrest.  During a subsequent search of Ms. Wrobel and her property, a pipe which is commonly used to ingest crack cocaine was located.  Ms. Wrobel was transported to Pequannock Police Headquarters for processing where she was charged with being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while intoxicated, careless driving, delaying traffic, and obstructing passage of vehicles.  She was released to a third party and has a scheduled court date at the Pequannock Township Municipal Court.

Receiving Stolen Property and Warrant Arrest: On October 18, 2018 at 2:21 p.m., Ptl. Jack Lyon was monitoring traffic on Route 23 North.  At that time he observed a blue Toyota traveling north and made a random check of the plate.  The check returned that the registered owner had a suspended driver’s license.  Ptl. Lyon made a traffic stop and made contact with the driver/registered owner, who was identified as Jose Guzman, 28 years old of Union City, N.J.  During his conversation with the occupants, Ptl. Lyon indicated that he detected the odor of marijuana coming from the car and removed the occupants.  During a subsequent search of the car, Ptl. Lyon and Ptl. Michael Kimak located several foil lined bags with clothing items in them.  All of the clothing was from TJ Maxx and still had anti-theft devices attached.  After further investigation, Mr. Guzman admitted that he stole the items from the TJ Maxx in Pompton Plains.  He was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Pequannock Police Department where he was charged with receiving stolen property, possession of an anti-theft shoplifting device, and driving while suspended.  Mr. Guzman’s passenger, identified as Jairo Navas, 36 years old of North Bergen, N.J. was found to have a body warrant from the Hudson County Sheriff’s Department and was also placed under arrest.  He was released to the Hudson County Sheriff’s Department.  Mr. Guzman was transported to the Morris County Jail and has a scheduled Court appearance at the Morris County Superior Court.
