CDS Arrest and Harassment by Force: On November 12, 2018 at 6:06 p.m., Patrol officers responded to 574 Newark Pompton Turnpike, Bon Chien Pet Grooming for a customer complaint. Officers attempted to assist both the customer and the employees of the business. The customer, later identified as Cheryl Parno, 55 years old of Wayne N.J., attempted to enter the business in order to obtain the owner’s information from the employees. With Ptl. Cesar Hurtado escorting her into the business, he witnessed Ms. Parno physically attack an employee of Bon Chien. After being separated, Ms. Parno was escorted to her vehicle so that she could vacate the premises. At the same time Bon Chien employee, Jennifer Bain, 47 years old of Sloatsburg, N.Y. was also escorted to her vehicle by Ptl. Kevin Ricciardi and Ptl. Michael Rafferty. When Ms. Bain opened her car door both officers detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car. A search was conducted by officers and they located several pills identified as suspected Oxycodone. Ms. Bain stated that she did not possess a prescription for the pills and was subsequently placed under arrest. During a search of her person, officers located a small amount of suspected marijuana. Ms. Bain was transported back to the Pequannock Police Department where she was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of under 50 grams of marijuana. She was released on her own recognizance with a scheduled court date at the Morris County Superior Court. Ms. Bain indicated that she wished to pursue charges against Ms. Parno. Ms. Parno was subsequently charged with harassment by force/shoving. She was released with a scheduled court date at the Pequannock Municipal Court.
