CDS & Warrant Arrest:  On September 22, 2016 at 12:50 p.m., Ptl. Jack Lyon was monitoring traffic on the Newark Pompton Turnpike when he observed the front seat passenger of a vehicle not wearing a seatbelt.  A check of MVC records indicated that the registered owner’s driving privilege was suspended and that there was an active arrest warrant.  Ptl. Lyon stopped the car and made contact with the occupants.  Rachel M. Lawson, 34 years old from Towaco, was arrested on the outstanding traffic warrant.  A search of the vehicle revealed two glassine envelopes containing suspected heroin, seven syringes and several other pieces of drug paraphernalia.  Ms. Lawson was transported to headquarters where she was processed and charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of hypodermic syringes.  She was turned over to the Hawthorne Police Department and has a pending court appearance.

CDS & Warrant Arrest:  On September 24, 2016 at 4:45 p.m., Ptl. Matthew Levine observed a vehicle speeding on Route 23 North.  Ptl. Levine stopped the car and made contact with the occupants.  During their conversation, the officer requested consent to search the passenger.  A bottle cap containing suspected heroin and five hypodermic syringes was located.  A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of 15 individual wax folds containing suspected heroin.  The passenger also admitted to using a false name to identify himself to the officer because he was the subject of active arrest warrants.  Michael John Fratella, 39 years old from Oak Ridge, was arrested, transported to headquarters and processed.  Mr. Fratella was charged with possession of heroin, possession of hypodermic syringes and hindering his own apprehension.  He was turned over to the Parsippany Police Department and has a pending appearance in court.

DWI Arrest:  On September 25, 2016 at 3:38 a.m., Ptl. Christopher McIvor was dispatched to respond to Chilton Hospital.  Ptl. McIvor met with a hospital security guard who informed him that a male, who appeared to be intoxicated, just dropped off an individual for treatment at the hospital’s emergency room.  The male then left the hospital and stated that he would be returning.  Several minutes later, Ptl. McIvor saw a vehicle and driver that matched the security guard’s description enter the parking lot.  The officer spoke with the driver and observed several signs of intoxication.  After performing several field sobriety tests, Henry David Olson, 24 years old from Hastings on Hudson, NY, was arrested, transported to headquarters and processed.  Mr. Olson was charged with careless driving and driving while intoxicated.  He was released to a third party and has a pending appearance in court.
