Brian C. Spring
Chief of Police

Chief Spring has been with the department since 1986.  He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1993 and served as a Patrol Supervisor.  He was promoted to Lieutenant in 1996, and served as the Detective Bureau Commander and then as the Operations officer for the department, prior to being appointed Chief of Police in March of 2004.   He was born and raised in Pompton Plains and graduated from Lynchburg College, Virginia, in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration.  He graduated from Jersey City State University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice.   He is a 1998 graduate of the West Point Command and Leadership Program.  In 1999 he graduated from the State of New Jersey Certified Public Manager program.   In 2001 he graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a Master's degree in Administrative Science.  He attended  206th session of the FBI National Academy and graduated from the NA in September of 2001.   Chief Spring can be reached by email at: bspring@peqtwp.org

Christopher J. DePuyt

Captain DePuyt began his career with the department in 1993.  A graduate of Towson University in Maryland, he was initially assigned to the patrol division.  He was transferred to the department’s Traffic Bureau in 1996 and completed a rigorous list of traffic and accident related courses including; Vehicle Dynamics, Traffic Accident Reconstruction, Traffic Engineering, Commercial Motor Vehicle Accident Reconstruction, Pedestrian & Bicycle Accident Reconstruction and Drug Recognition Expert certification. For 12 years, he was an instructor at the Morris County Police Academy for the Basic Police Officer’s Class.   He was promoted to Sergeant in 2004 and remained in the Traffic Bureau as a supervisor.  In 2011 he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and served as the Patrol Division Commander for approximately three years.  In January of 2014, Christopher was promoted to his current rank of Captain and serves as the Operations & Public Information Officer, responsible for the daily function of the department.   He can be reached at 973-835-1700 ext. 147 or at cdepuyt@peqtwp.org
