Brian C. Spring
Chief of Police

Chief Spring has been with the department since 1986.  He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1993 and served as a Patrol Supervisor.  He was promoted to Lieutenant in 1996, and served as the Detective Bureau Commander and then as the Operations officer for the department, prior to being appointed Chief of Police in March of 2004.   He was born and raised in Pompton Plains and graduated from Lynchburg College, Virginia, in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration.  He graduated from Jersey City State University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice.   He is a 1998 graduate of the West Point Command and Leadership Program.  In 1999 he graduated from the State of New Jersey Certified Public Manager program.   In 2001 he graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a Master's degree in Administrative Science.  He attended  206th session of the FBI National Academy and graduated from the NA in September of 2001.   Chief Spring can be reached by email at: bspring@peqtwp.org


Daniel Comune

Captain Comune began his career with the department in 1999.  A graduate of William Paterson University, he was initially assigned to the patrol division.  He was promoted to a Patrol Sergeant's potition in 2005 where he served for seven years.  He was assigned to the Detective Bureau in 2012 where he served as the Detective Sergeant.  In 2013 he moved to the Traffic Bureau and served as the Traffic/Community Services Sergeant.  In 2014 he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant where he served as the Patrol and Community Services Bureau Commander for five years.  He has completed a rigorous list of patrol related, traffic and accident related and detective related courses throughout his career.  He most recently completed the Rutgers Certified Public Manager's Course in 2017.  He was promoted to the rank of Captain in 2019 and is currently serving as the Operations & Public Information Officer, responsible for the daily function of the department.  He can be reached at 973-835-1700, ext. 150 or at dcomune@peqtwp.org.
