Special Weather Advisory - Winter Storm Gerri: 1/13/24 at 8:00 am

Winter Storm Gerri only produced 0.87” of rain before it left the area this morning, January 13th. As a result, no increase in street flooding is expected.

Flood Causes

  • Rainfall – 0.87 inches
  • Heavily saturated ground, due to previous rains/floods.
  • Wanaque Reservoir spillage
  • Backflow on the Pompton (unable to drain) due to Passaic River in flood stage

Special Weather Advisory - Winter Storm Finn: 1/11/24 at 11:30 am

Rt. 23 is now open in both directions. The Township may be re-opening the Alexander/Rt. 23 jug handles this afternoon, if floodwaters continue to recede at the current rate.

Current Conditions

  • From Dec. 1st – Jan 11th – Township has received 14.3” of rain (Jan - Nov 2023 = 12.8” rain)
  • Recent rainfall of 2.88 inches plus snowmelt resulted in a 4 inch +/- rain event

Rt. 23 Sanitary Sewer Extension Project - Construction Begins

Beginning on or about 9/6/2023, construction will begin on the Rt. 23 Sewer Extension Project. In addition to Rt. 23, sewer mains will be installed along East Garden Place and Highland Avenue. Construction is expected to last at least 6 months.

The Contractor for this project is P&A Construction Inc. There will be additional notifications when work directly in front of your home/business is imminent.
